Chhattisgarh is a heavily forested state in central India known for its temples, waterfalls and tribes. It is an interesting tourist destination in India that offers tribal tourism in Chhattisgarh, history, nature and wildlife. The bulk of Tribes in Chhattisgarh however lies virtually unexplored. The deep and virgin forests, picturesque waterfalls and winding rivers offer nature’s paradise.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 (TUE): BHUBANESWAR

    During morning arrival Bhubaneswar and with pick up assistance transfer to hotel. After refreshment visit local sightseeing tour of Bhubaneswar such as lingaraj temple (from a platform), Vaital Temple, Mukteswar/Sidheswar, Parsurameswar temple, Rajarani and Brahmeswar temple (All are 6-11th century temples). Post lunch visit Khandagiri/Udaygiri Jain caves, tribal Museum and Nandan Kanan zoo. Overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.

  • Day 2 (WED): DHENKANAL

    During morning after breakfast drive to Joronda, Dhenkanal to see half naked Anam Sadhus famous for their austere life and their monastery and evening prayer. Overnight stay in Kings Palace.

  • Day 3 (THU): PURI

    Chandrabhaga-beach

    During morning drive to Puri, the holy city enroute visit Dhauli Buddhist stupa, 64 yogini temple, Pipili appliqué village, Raghurajpur painting village. If wish enjoy the GOTIPUA FOLK DANCE in the village. Arrival Puri and overnight stay in a beach side hotel in Puri.

  • Day 4 (FRI): KONARK SUN TEMPLE

    During morning after breakfast drive to Puri enroute visit Dhauli Budhist stupa, pipli appliqué village and during afternoon visit world heritage site Konark Sun temple. After few hours in the temple relax in the virgin beach of Konark. Back to Puri for overnight stay in same sea side hotel.

  • Day 5 (SAT): MANGALAJODIA

    During morning drive to Mangalajodia Lake to take the silent countryside boat to see birds who come from Siberia, Lake Baikal, Iran and Afghanistan for their winger sojourn. After few hours of boating further drive to Barkul for overnight stay.

  • Day 6 (SUN): TAPTAPANI HILL STATION

    During morning drive to Taptapani hill station enroute visit the 2nd largest Buddhist Monastry in India and Saura Tribes in their village. Back to Taptapani to witness the hot spring and deer park. Overnight stay in Taptapani surrounded with beautiful nature.

  • Day 7 (MON): BALLIGUDA

    KONDH-TRIBES

    During morning after breakfast drive to Balliguda area (200Km and 4 hrs) enroute visit KONDH TRIBES. Overnight in a basic and clean hotel.

  • Day 8 (TUE): RAYAGADA

    After breakfast visit the TATOO FACED KUTIA KONDH TRIBES in their village. After few hours further drive to Rayagada (150 Km & 3hrs drive) enroute visit Kondh Tribal village. Arrival Rayagada for overnight stay.

  • Day 9 ( WED): JEYPORE

    During morning after breakfast drive to Chatikona of Bissam Cuttack District ( 35 Km and 1 hr) to meet the primitive DUNGURIA KONDH TRIBES in their weekly market where they sale their horticultural products and in exchange take salt, chicken & kerosene. After few hours in the market further drive to jeypore (130 km and 3 hrs) for overnight stay in a basic hotel.

  • Day 10 (THU): BONDA TRIBES

    Bhaduri-Bonda-tribes

    During morning after breakfast drive to onkdeli (70 km and 1 & ½ hrs) to meet the most colorful BONDA TRIBES in their weekly market. Share the alcohol with Bonda women and meet Bonda men with Bow and Arrow. After few hours in the market relax in the nearby waterfall and drive back to Jeypore for overnight stay.

  • Day 11 ( FRI): PARAJA & RANA TRIBES

    After breakfast drive to Kundli, the largest tribal haat of Odisha state (75 Km and 1 & ½ hrs) to meet the PARAJA & RANA TRIBES in their largest weekly market of Odisha. If possible witness the tribal dance in the village. After few hours in the market drive to jeypore for overnight stay.

  • Day 12 (SAT): GUPTESWAR

    Gupteshwar-Caves

    During morning visit Gupteswar (80KM and 2 hrs) caves famous for its Shiva shrine & during noon drive to Baligaon to meet the DHURUBA TRIBES in their weekly market. After few hours in the market drive to jeypore for overnight stay at same hotel.

  • Day 13 (SUN): JAGDALPUR

    Morning drive to Jagdalpur (80 Km and 2 hrs) enroute visit Kotpad textile village afternoon visit the Batra and Bhumia Tribes and their village. Overnight stay in Jagdalpur.

  • Day 14 (MON): TIRATHAGARH

    Morning departure for Bison Horn Maria Tribe village inside of Kanger vally National Park. Visit the sterility natural cave of Kutumsar and explore the Maria tribe life style at their village. Afternoon visit the Tirathagarh waterfall and the famous colorful weekly market of Maria tribe and then return back to Jagadalpur for overnight stay.

  • Day 15 (TUE): CHITRAKOOT

    During morning drive Narayan pal temple, Maria Tribal village and afternoon visit Nigra of India- the famous Chitrakoot waterfall. Also drive to Lohargundi weekly market and Local sightseeing tour. Overnight stay at Jagdalpur. Same as above.

  • Day 16 (WED): MURIA TRIBAL VILLAGE

    Tribal Village of Odisha

    After breakfast you will encounter here the special nature of North Bastar with a visit to a colorful weekly market. It gives you a great opportunity to meet the local people. Visit the Kondagaon craft village and Bahigaon famous for Muria Tribal village and visit their Gotul house. , and the people who make them. Lunch will be a picnic in the deep green sal forests. A nearly evening dance by youthful members of Bastar’s unique ‘ghotul’ dormitory system completes an unforgettable day. Later drive to Kanker for overnight stay.

  • Day 17 (THU): CHHATTISGARH

    Checkout from hotel and drive to Prayag of Chhattisgarh-“Rajim”. Rajim is located on the sangam (meeting points) of three rivers- Mahanadi, Pairy and Sondhu. The main attraction of Rajim is the Rajivalochana Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple has 12 exquisitely carved pillars with tall single figures with faces of various gods and goddesses sculptured on them. Near city to the Rajivalochana Temple, there are other temples dedicated to different incarnations of lord Vishnu such as Vamana (dwarf), Narasimha (human body with face of a lion), Badrinath and Jagannath. The temple of Rajivalochana attracts thousands of devotees from all over India and abroad throughout the year. There is also a magnificent black stone statue of the lord Buddha meditating under the Bodhi tree. Further drive to Raipur for overnight stay.

  • Day 18 (FRI): VISAKHAPATNAM
