Tribal Wonders of Orissa.

In India, there is an amalgam of 437 tribes, and in Orissa, the number is sixty-two. According to 1991 Census, in Orissa the total strength of tribal population is approximately seven million.

Orissa occupies a unique position in the ethnographic map of India for having the largest variety of tribal communities. Being one of the fascinating ethnographic states of the country.

 The tribal population of the state constitutes 22.43 percent of the total population of the state and 7.76 percent of the total tribal population of the country. Although they are found in all the districts of the state. Yet more than half of their total strength are found in three districts namely koraput, Malkanagiri, sundergarh and Mayurbhanj. The most primitive tribes are Dunguri Kondh, colorful Bond Tribes, Gadaba Tribes who still live in high hill and have retained their culture and traditions intact till today.  Other tribes are Kutia, Paraja, Rana, Malli and Dhuruva who live in remote villages in plain areas have still preserved their culture and traditions.

Day 03:- Explore the holy city Puri by cycle rickshaw.  Afternoon visit Raghurajpur painting village. Back to Puri for overnight stay.  

Day 04:- Free day in Puri. 

Day 05: - Drive to Satapada (Chilika lake) and cross the lake by boat enroute meet Dolphins.  Overnight stay at Rambha overlooking the lake.

Day 06:-Drive to Balliguda area to meet the KUTIA KONDH tribes. Overnight in a tourist bunglow. 

Day 07: (Tue)- Drive to Bissam Cuttack area and enroute visit the KONDH tribal people. Overnight stay in a basic hotel in Rayagada

Day 08 (Wed):- During morning drive to Chatikona to meet the DUNGURIA KONDH tribes   in their weekly market.  After few hours in the market drive to jeypore for over night stay in a basic hotel.

Day 09 (Thu): During morning drive to onkdeli   to meet  the  most colorful  BONDA  TRIBES  in their weekly market.  During afternoon   visit the near by GADABA village.   Back to  Jeypore   for  over night stay.

Day 10 (Fri): - Drive to Kundli to meet the PARAJA &   RANA tribe in their  largest weekly   market.  After few hours in the market   drive to Gupteswar  or  jeypore   for overnight stay.

Day 11 (Sat): During morning visit   Gupteswar famous for its Shiva   shrine  & during noon drive to Baligaon   to meet    DHURUBA  TRIBES  in  their  weekly  market.  Drive to   jeypore for over night stay.    

Day 12     (Sun): Drive to   Vishakhapatnam    for your next destination.  

Note :- The tour can be extended or reduced as per the wish of the guest . Tour Price depends No. of pax, type of accommodation and transport. Permit is required from the police station.

 

Itinerary :-

Day 01: - Arrival Bhubaneswar and visit the temples from 8th to 12th century. Overnight stay at  Bhubaneswar. 

Day 02: - Drive to Puri enroute visit world famous Konark Sun Temple.  Afternoon relax in the beach.  Overnight stay in a beach side hotel.
